📣 Volunteer Editor opportunities!

We're looking for current University of Essex PGR (postgraduate research) students to volunteer as an Editor for the Essex Student Journal.Â
This will be a great opportunity for any Essex PGRs interested in developing new skills, and gaining transferable first-hand experiences of academic publishing.
What will you gain?
- Experience editing a peer reviewed diamond open access journal.
- Specific skills in academic editing, copyediting, and typesetting.
- Transferable skills such as team work, digital skills, and communication.
- The chance to publish your own Editorial piece that will be indexed in Google Scholar.

What are we looking for?
- A current Essex PGR student.Â
- Someone who is reliable, and has strong written communication skills and good attention to detail.
- Flexibility, with the capacity to dedicate around 8 hours per week to the role.
How will the role work?
- We're looking for two to three volunteers who can work together to edit Volume 17 of the Essex Student Journal, with the potential to edit additional special issues.
- The role can be carried out either in person at our Colchester campus, or online.Â
- You'll be supported by our Essex Student Journal manager, and full training will be provided.
- We're looking for the volunteer editors to work with us for the remainder of the 2025/26 academic year, and through the Summer vacation if possible.
